How to Handle Career Transition?


It’s pretty difficult for one and all to adjust with a completely new profession. Changing of career is of real concerns nowadays. Many people will have various reasons to switch to other jobs quitting the present job.
 At the present day, because of aggressive job market and performance oriented culture, the career transition has become very common as there are lot of people who prefer a career change. 1. Priorities your skills and self analyze:

And the Managing Director of head hunting firm Executive Access, Ronesh Puri advises you to self-analyze before taking the plunge and he also advises you to list out all your key skills and the challenges that you can expect in your new profession. 2. Don’t be scared to take up risks:

When you switch into a new job your priorities keeps changing and you must be correcting yourself from the mistakes you do. And if you are going to try something new then don’t be scared to experiment on it. Most of the professionals are unenthusiastic about taking up risks in their professional life, but every professional must remember the fact that there is no careers which is not risky to deal with, reports Ronesh Puri and if you are not in a position to take up that risk then postpone your decision but do not let it limit you in your professional life.

3. Back-up plan needed:

If you think your new career is not working out well for you, increase your confidence level on your new profession. To increase your confidence level and to make it more strong you need to have a back-up plan.

4. Financial security is much needed:

Whenever you have decided for a career transition, remember to plan your financial security well. It is a must to look after your financial matters because in many cases a career transition might involve a reduction in your income which can hit on your financial security very badly. You need to think on how to manage your family obligations and other essential expenses and you need to be still more careful when you have an entire family depended upon your income.

5. Improve Your Skills:

You might be very much skillful on a particular job. But when you are in a career transition and you get into a completely different profession, you need to develop new skills that are much required for the new profession. Vinay Grover, the CEO of executive firm Symbiosis Management Consultants suggests that, if an employee enters into a totally different field, one must acquire all the new skills, knowledge and information possible about new field before entering it.
